Fire Safety Knowledge You Need to Know

Keep your home balcony and the surrounding environment clean, and regularly clear away combustible materials to prevent spontaneous combustion accidents. Remind friends who smoke not to throw cigarette butts around when smoking outdoors, so as to avoid causing fires. In addition, do not smoke in bed or on the sofa, so as not to ignite flammable materials. Use electrical appliances properly, avoid haphazard wiring and overloading circuits, and replace aging equipment and wiring in a timely manner. Remember to turn off the power switch when going out to ensure safety.

When using natural gas or liquefied gas, open the gas valve before igniting the flame; when finished, close the gas valve before turning off the stove, and do not casually dispose of residual liquefied petroleum gas. If a gas leak is discovered, immediately shut off the gas valve, open the windows for ventilation, do not touch electrical switches or open flames, and avoid using the telephone in the affected area. If the fire is not large, act quickly, put on wet clothing or wrap yourself in a wet blanket, and leave the scene bravely, but never wear a plastic raincoat. When escaping through thick smoke, keep your body as low as possible and cover your mouth and nose with a wet towel to ensure safety.

Once a fire breaks out, quickly call “119” to report it to the fire department, and immediately organize people to fight the fire. During firefighting, save lives first and then try to minimize losses; cut off the power before extinguishing the fire, and pay attention to fighting the fire from upwind, especially in wildland fire scenes. When extinguishing a fire, generally use available materials on the spot, such as water, sand, soil, and other firefighting tools, and make every effort to control the spread of the fire. It is strictly forbidden to mobilize or organize primary and secondary school students to participate in fighting mountain or forest fires. At the same time, education and management must be strengthened to ensure that primary and secondary school students do not participate in fighting forest fires. If students spontaneously attempt to fight forest fires, schools and relevant departments should promptly dissuade them in order to prevent unnecessary casualties.
